Camp Wamava in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Virginia is looking for qualified candidates
to fill the position of Recreation Director
The Recreation Director will:
• Plan and organize daily activities for campers to include
o Group activities
o Individual tournaments
o Low organized games and activities
• Plan daily activities designed to involve all campers to include individual and group activities
• Enlist the assistance of staff members to run the recreation program
• Serve on a Leadership Team to help ensure smooth operation of the camp through planning
and scheduling
• Do pool maintenance (training provided if needed)
• Provide guidance for life guards and general pool safety
• Maintain pool with assistance of maintenance staff and /or Program Director
• Oversee lake activities
• See to the ordering of recreation equipment (coordinated with the Program Director)
• Maintain recreation equipment and facilities
• Create and present awards for achievement to campers or staff as often as possible
• Organize camp fires when the schedule calls for them
Other duties may be assigned or shared as deemed appropriate. Employment runs for 7 weeks
from June 18 to August 4. Salary is commensurate with experience starting at $225 per week plus
travel and one day off per week.
